Inside the thirteenth chapter of Revelation, we notice that two beasts are being discussed. The first beast power speaks blasphemies against the Most High God, demands worship, makes war with and God’s saints, and has power over “all that dwell upon the earth…” The second beast that is introduced in verse 11, is pretty much like the first beast in many ways, except this one forces people to worship the first beast.
The first beast once used force to compel people to worship a certain way, when they did not cooperate they were tortured, they were killed, their property were taken away, they were driven into the hills. Read all about what happened in history to the Albigenses, the Waldenses, and the Hussites. “When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the state to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result.” GC 445 Revelation 13 tells us that everyone is going to have one mark or the other; either in the forehead, or the hand. One mark will protect God’s servants from the wrath.
They’ll be protected by God. While the other mark will be in the hand, which means individuals who are rebellious against God will suffer His wrath. Today, more and more voices are being heard saying that the day of worship should be enforced by the government. These Christian conservative voices are saying that God can’t bless the United States because not all Americans are worshiping on the day, which they say is the Lord’s Day. That is when enforced worship will begin. It will come to a matter of who and when to worship. The second beast of Revelation 13 will force dissenters to do as the first beast (which is the Papacy), says and compel everyone to worship on Sunday.
